Original Roofing Company

I have lived in Blaenau Ffestiniog all my life, and have therefore always been surrounded by slate! Not only have I worked with welsh slate all my adult life, but as a company (along with fellow director Kaz Bentham) we have strived to push the boundaries of what is possible, working with a product that is versatile and incredibly resilient.

We do a lot of heritage work, working on many listed buildings, but we also try to do things, which possibly have not been done before. For example, we created pieces of slate art, which can be seen in Blaenau Ffestiniog town centre (pictured), and also writing Tŷ Coch Inn on a slate roof in Porthdinllaen.

My hometown means a huge amount to me personally, with its amazing mix of both beautiful and dramatic scenery; a remnant of the quarrying industry which shaped it.

I love the community here, and take pride in participating and giving something back in various ways, which include pastimes that our ancestors who worked in the quarries would have partaken. I have been a coach with the children’s under 10s football team, a town councillor and community volunteer – tying me to this community forever.
